“The center cannot hold. Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world and everywhere the ceremony of innocence is lost.” ~W.B. Yeats
Now that’s a handy quote, much in use nowadays and dragged out to describe everything from people refusing to wear masks, political strife, or seven-inning baseball games. The ceremony of innocence surely can’t handle much more, right?
Wrong. Now there’s this: it seems that Ellen DeGeneres may not be a .... nice person. Is Ellen not nice? How can this be? No wonder the center isn’t holding. How much more are we expected to endure? Next, they’ll be telling us that Columbus wasn’t so swelled guy either.
How could this be so? Ellen not nice. How much more can we endure? How many more rules will be changed? For instance, you may have seen the story recently of a bear in North Jersey euthanized after attacking a man in the man’s garage. The man survived, the bear not so much. Doesn’t seem fair from the bear’s perspective. He thought we had a deal, i.e. “ sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes the bear ....”
Poor bear. No one told him that the center cannot hold and mere anarchy is loosed upon the world .....and Ellen is not a nice person.
